INDONESIAN PASSPORT: Basic Understanding

Passport applicationGenerally, an Indonesian passport can be considered as an International recognition on behalf of the passport holder. An Indonesianpassport is an official document issued by the Indonesian Immigration authorities, which enlist the holder's biographical information's such as the bearer photograph, the signature, the bearer place & date of birth


A valid Indonesian passport can be used to make an inter-countries travel. Today, many. countries have enables the issuance of an electronic passport, which simply consist of the bearer biographical information's.



An Indonesian passport must be shown to the related immigration officer when the bearer is traveling abroad or prior traveling to any countries, the bearer is required to apply for a visa at any designated embassy of the said country & the officer would then attached a visa on the applicant passport pages.



I. Regular Indonesian Passport

An Indonesian regular passport is applied to the nearest Immigration authority, by submitting certain biographical information and following a particular procedures and guidelines that specified by The Indonesian Immigration Directorate General under direct supervision from The Department of Law and Human Rights.


II. Indonesian Passport For Foreign Nationals or subject to Indonesian Dual Citizenship

A child born from a mixed-marriage parents can obtain dual passport as a proof of the child dual citizenship status. The Indonesian citizenship law has enables children born from a mixed-marriage parents to uphold both citizenship, and to obtain both passport in accordance to the child's parents citizenship, until the said child have reached an adulthood and may choose whether to stay with an Indonesian citizenship or choosing the foreign national acquired by the parent. 



When applying for an Indonesian passport, the applicant is required to supply the application with the following supporting documentations:

1. Legalized Birth Certification;

2. Legalized ID and Family Card;

3. Marriage Certificate & The marriage reporting Certificate (if required);

4. Curriculum Vitae;

5. Latest Diploma.

An additional documentations might be required by an Indonesian immigration authority in order to complete or to approved the applicant petition.
